The Class 390 is one of the fastest electric multiple units operating in Britain. The set can reach 140 mph, whilst featuring tilting train technology to allow higher speeds around bends. At present, the Class 390 operates along the West Coast Main Line and is well-known to commuters and railfans alike for its sleek looks and high performance. In 2006 a Class 390 set a new speed record along the West Coast Main Line, completing the 401-mile trip from London to Glasgow in 3 hours and 55 minutes, and in usual operation the sets will run up to 125mph where track conditions allow. The Class 390 for Train Simulator recreates the smooth high performance well-known to drivers on the West Coast Main Line, and features a realistic tilting function which mimics the action of the real thing.

  The scenarios for this loco have a major flaw. The speed limits seem to be to high because the game gives a lot of "driving quality" penalties when going through curves. That makes most scenarios nearly impossible to finish with gold. Also the 390 itself is pretty basic. It doesn't have any unique features but it also lacks some basic functions, e.g. in-cab lighting and the headlights don't really cast any light onto the terrain. This DLC needs fixing but I wouldn't expect DTG to care since it's been around broken since 2012.. A good bit of DLC. It handles nicely and is fast. Shame the buttons are not pressable with only one light setting. Would be nice to have the Virgin Livery Without Downloading reskins. A good reskin is from DP Simulation. Do not buy this ... it is destined to become abandonware ...
  DTG are developing a pro version of the 390 with actual VT livery ...
  It dosent matter how cheap it is, you will still be buying a chocolate teapot if you buy this ...
  
  If this is still on sale after the new version is released its primary function will be as an "idiot test". This is by far my favourite train on the game. Lovely to drive up and down the two northern sections of the WCML. Don't buy this however if you're only wanting to use it for career scenarios as the game doesn't account for the tilting mechanism and you lose all your points for drive quality. Despite that issue this is an absolute must have for your collection, its a good deal at full price but even better if picked up in a sale.. Stupid liveries, bad sound but tilting high-speed trains is cool!. This train has a lot of graphical polish: Very nicely rendered cab and passenger views. However, somewhat inexplicably, there is no cab light, and all of the Career scenarios are impossible to complete, since using the trains isolated tilt does absolutely nothing to ameliorate draconian drive quality penalties which will put you to minus 1000 points after just a few curves.. Not a bad train but not really great either. Requires a large amount of throttle just to even get moving and idiling just activates the brakes. Colour scheme's are nice but without the branding they do look a tad bland at times. Majority of the buttons are just for show and unusable. However the tilt feature having a off\/on feature it makes no difference despites the EPS boards clearing you to 110-125mph any curve sections result in rapid braking and dropping anywhere between 10-50mph in speed to avoid getting brutally penalised for drive quality despite older NON TILTING loco's and rollingstock taking the same curves at higher speeds than yourself without being punished.
  
  I guess you'll be thinking in terms of why did he bother buying it then? why not just get a refund? It's rather simple really.
  
  1: Instead of the old price of $19.99 it's now $8.99 making it much more tempting to buy.
  2: Provides more options while browsing scenarios in the workshop.
  3: Nothing wrong with having more trains to choose even if their just sitting in the background.
  4: Most importantly it puts you that much closer to using Just Trains and Armstrong Powerhouse scenarios and routes since the Class 390 is required.. A tilting high-speed legend that is ruined by stingy virgin not liscencing their livery, still worth getting.. This is a fabulous addon and i'd say is *just about* worth \u00a36.
  
  First off, the modeling and the animations are rather good. The thing that amazed me is that the pantograph is animated and moves on some sort of hydraulic sled when the train is going round a corner so it moves to keep contact with the over head wires. The steps that fold out when the doors are open are also there. The tilting is a little strange since it's not controled with track-side sensors, but is just when it's at a corner so it can jolt you to one side before it starts to tilt.
  
  But the train does have some flaws. The horn is strangely loud, i can be at the back of the train and it sounds like i'm infront of it.
  The cab is a little sparse when it comes to buttons you can press. You can't choose which specific lighting arrangement you want, you can't choose which wiper speed you want, but you can turn the tilt off.
  
  Overall, this is a nice little thing to have, good for speed on rather curvy routes (Going 155 in a 50 zone maxes out the tilt). The modeling and lighting is quite nice and it is really good when it comes to FPS, but the passenger view is a little laggy for my liking. It comes with three liveries with some that you can get elsewhere.
  
  
  9.5\/10 and 155mph just about anywhere you want!. Taking the controls of these class 390 is more relaxing and easy than a class 86, but at high speeds you cannot loose concentration. Know your braking distances and you will control the massive horsepower of these modern trains.
  The sound especially is pretty good, except the horn. Shame there isn't more interactive controls in-cab.
